Return and Cancellation Policy
Last updated: 12 July 2026
This Return and Cancellation Policy applies to purchases made from:
The Grand Line Codex S.à r.l.-S
59, Rue de Macher
5550 Remich
Luxembourg
Email: kardboardtik@grandlinecodex.com
This Policy applies to physical books purchased through our online store. Nothing in this Policy excludes or restricts any mandatory consumer rights available under applicable law.
1. Order Cancellations Before Shipment
Customers may request the cancellation of an order before the shipping label has been created.
To request a cancellation, contact us as soon as possible at:
kardboardtik@grandlinecodex.com
Please include your full name, order number and the email address used to place the order.
Once a shipping label has been created, the order may already have entered the packing or shipping process. At that stage, we may no longer be able to cancel or stop the shipment.
Where applicable, the customer may still exercise their statutory right of withdrawal after the order has been delivered.
A cancellation request is not considered accepted until it has been confirmed by us in writing.
2. Cancellations by Us
We reserve the right to cancel an order before shipment where reasonably necessary, including in cases involving:
-
an obvious pricing, description or technical error;
-
incorrect product availability or insufficient stock;
-
payment failure or payment verification issues;
-
suspected fraud or unauthorised payment activity;
-
an incomplete, incorrect, unsupported or undeliverable address;
-
sanctions, trade restrictions or export restrictions;
-
unusually large quantities or suspected unauthorised commercial resale;
-
misuse of promotional offers;
-
attempts to manipulate the random allocation of Collector’s Edition serial numbers;
-
abusive, deceptive or bad-faith use of our ordering or return process; or
-
circumstances outside our reasonable control that prevent us from fulfilling the order.
Any payment collected for an order cancelled by us will be refunded in full to the original payment method.
If a Collector’s Edition becomes unavailable after an order has been placed, the customer will receive a full refund. We will not automatically replace it with an Unlimited Edition or another product without the customer’s express agreement.
Nothing in this section permits us to cancel an accepted order in violation of applicable law.
3. Fourteen-Day Right of Withdrawal
Customers who qualify as consumers have the right to withdraw from an eligible distance purchase within 14 calendar days without providing a reason.
The withdrawal period begins on the day after the customer, or a third party designated by the customer other than the carrier, physically receives the order.
Where multiple products from one order are delivered separately, the withdrawal period begins after the final product has been received.
To exercise the right of withdrawal, the customer must inform us of their clear decision to withdraw before the 14-day period expires.
The customer may contact us by email at:
kardboardtik@grandlinecodex.com
The customer may use the model withdrawal form included at the end of this Policy, but using that form is not mandatory. Any clear and unambiguous written statement expressing the decision to withdraw is sufficient.
Contacting us before returning an order allows us to provide the appropriate return instructions. Our confirmation is not a condition for the exercise of a mandatory statutory right of withdrawal.
4. Returning an Order After Withdrawal
After notifying us of the withdrawal, the customer must send the products back without undue delay and no later than 14 calendar days after the notification was sent.
Returns must be sent to:
The Grand Line Codex S.à r.l.-S
59, Rue de Macher
5550 Remich
Luxembourg
The customer is responsible for the direct cost of returning an order where the return is based on a change of mind or statutory withdrawal.
We do not provide prepaid return labels for change-of-mind returns unless we expressly agree otherwise.
The customer must package the returned product carefully and securely to prevent damage during transportation. The customer should use a shipping service that provides proof of shipment.
For a Collector’s Edition or another high-value order, tracked and appropriately insured return shipping is strongly recommended. The customer should retain the tracking number, shipping receipt and proof of postage until the return has been completed.
Packages sent to us without sufficient postage, cash on delivery or with charges payable by us may be refused.
5. Return Condition and Product Handling
Customers may inspect a product only to the extent reasonably necessary to establish its nature, characteristics and condition, in the same way that the product could reasonably be inspected in a physical shop.
Returned products should include:
-
the correct book originally supplied;
-
the original product box;
-
all original components and included materials; and
-
any included item that formed part of the purchased product.
Opening the shipping package or product box does not automatically remove a statutory right of withdrawal.
However, the customer may be responsible for any reduction in value caused by handling beyond what was reasonably necessary to inspect the product.
A deduction may be made for an actual and demonstrable reduction in value resulting from matters such as:
-
scratches, dents or pressure marks;
-
bent or damaged corners;
-
damage to the spine, cover or pages;
-
stains, dirt, odours or liquid damage;
-
fingerprints, marks or damage to sensitive premium surfaces;
-
damage to glossy, embossed or specially finished elements;
-
torn, written-on, folded or otherwise used pages;
-
missing components or included materials;
-
damaged, missing or replaced original packaging;
-
the return of a different copy or serial number;
-
signs of extended use, display or improper storage;
-
careless or inadequate return packaging; or
-
damage occurring during the return shipment due to inadequate packaging.
Any deduction will be based on the actual reduction in the product’s value. We do not charge an automatic restocking fee.
The original product box forms part of the presentation and collectible condition of the product. Missing or damaged packaging may therefore reduce the value of the returned product, particularly in the case of the Collector’s Edition.
6. Collector’s Edition Serial Numbers
Each Collector’s Edition of The Grand Line Codex carries an individually embossed serial number from 001 to 556.
Serial numbers are assigned entirely at random.
Customers cannot request, select, reserve, exchange or otherwise influence the serial number allocated to an order.
We do not guarantee:
-
a particular serial number;
-
a low serial number;
-
a specific number range;
-
repeating or matching digits;
-
a particular sequence;
-
a number with a birthday, year or personal significance;
-
a number considered more desirable by collectors; or
-
any perceived present or future collectible value connected to a serial number.
Receiving a serial number that the customer does not personally prefer does not constitute:
-
a defect;
-
product damage;
-
an incorrect item;
-
a misdescription;
-
a lack of conformity; or
-
grounds for a free replacement, exchange, partial refund or reimbursement of return shipping costs.
We do not offer serial-number exchanges. A Collector’s Edition cannot be exchanged solely to obtain a different serial number.
A customer who has received the correct randomly allocated Collector’s Edition may still exercise any mandatory statutory right of withdrawal that applies to the purchase. In such a case, the return will be treated as a change-of-mind return and the customer will be responsible for the direct return shipping costs.
Returning a Collector’s Edition does not give the customer the right to request, reserve or receive a particular serial number in a later order.
Repeated ordering and returning for the purpose of searching for preferred serial numbers may be treated as misuse of our ordering process. Subject to applicable law, we may cancel future unshipped orders where we have reasonable and objective grounds to believe that the orders are being placed fraudulently, deceptively or in bad faith to manipulate the random serial-number allocation process.
There is no general limit of one Collector’s Edition per customer. Legitimate purchases of multiple copies remain possible, subject to availability and our general order acceptance rules.
This section does not exclude or restrict any mandatory statutory consumer right.
7. Refunds for Change-of-Mind Returns
Where a valid statutory withdrawal applies, we will reimburse the eligible payments received from the customer, including the original delivery charge required by applicable law.
DHL Express is currently the only delivery method offered by us. Where that service constitutes the standard delivery option offered for the order, its original eligible delivery cost will be included in the statutory reimbursement where required by law.
The direct cost of returning the order remains the customer’s responsibility.
Refunds will be made without undue delay and no later than 14 calendar days after we have been informed of the customer’s valid decision to withdraw.
We may withhold the refund until:
-
we have received the returned products; or
-
the customer has provided sufficient evidence that the products have been sent back,
whichever occurs first.
We may inspect the returned order after receipt and make a lawful deduction for any actual reduction in value caused by handling beyond what was reasonably necessary to inspect the product.
Refunds will be issued to the original payment method unless the customer expressly agrees to another method that does not result in additional fees.
The time required for a refund to appear in the customer’s account may depend on the payment provider, bank or card issuer and is outside our direct control.
8. No General Exchanges or Store Credit
We do not offer general change-of-mind exchanges or store credit.
Where a customer no longer wishes to keep an eligible product, the customer should follow the withdrawal and return procedure described in this Policy.
This does not affect remedies available for products that are damaged, defective, not in conformity with the contract or supplied incorrectly.
9. Damaged, Defective or Incorrect Products
Customers should inspect their order promptly after delivery.
If a product arrives damaged, appears defective or is not the product ordered, the customer should contact us as soon as possible, preferably within seven days after delivery, at:
kardboardtik@grandlinecodex.com
A failure to report an issue within seven days does not automatically remove any mandatory statutory rights.
The customer should provide:
-
the order number;
-
a description of the issue;
-
photographs of every side of the external shipping box;
-
a photograph showing the DHL shipping label;
-
photographs of the internal packaging;
-
clear close-up photographs of the damage or defect;
-
photographs showing the complete book;
-
the serial number where a Collector’s Edition is involved; and
-
an unboxing video, where one is available.
Customers should retain the shipping box, product box, internal packaging and damaged product until the claim has been resolved. DHL or another claims handler may require these materials for inspection.
Do not return a damaged, defective or incorrect product before receiving return instructions from us, unless a mandatory legal deadline requires otherwise.
10. Remedies for an Unlimited Edition
Where an Unlimited Edition arrives with minor cosmetic transportation damage and the customer wishes to keep it, we may offer an appropriate partial refund with the customer’s agreement.
Depending on the circumstances, product availability, severity of the issue and the customer’s mandatory legal rights, another available remedy may include:
-
replacement;
-
price reduction;
-
return at our expense; or
-
full refund.
A partial refund will not be imposed without the customer’s agreement where another remedy is required by applicable law.
11. Remedies for a Collector’s Edition
Where a Collector’s Edition arrives damaged, defective or incorrectly supplied, available remedies may include:
-
replacement with another Collector’s Edition carrying a different randomly assigned serial number;
-
an appropriate partial refund where the damage is minor and the customer agrees to keep the book;
-
return at our expense; or
-
a full refund where replacement is unavailable, disproportionate or otherwise required by law.
Due to the individually numbered and limited nature of the Collector’s Edition, we cannot guarantee that the same serial number can be replaced or reproduced.
A replacement copy will carry another randomly assigned serial number. The customer cannot select or request the replacement serial number.
The availability of a replacement Collector’s Edition depends on remaining stock.
Nothing in this section restricts any mandatory remedy available under applicable consumer law.
12. Legal Guarantee of Conformity
Consumers in the European Union benefit from the applicable statutory guarantee of conformity for goods.
For eligible consumer purchases, products must correspond to their description, possess the advertised characteristics and be suitable for their normal intended use.
The statutory guarantee is separate from the 14-day right of withdrawal. The right of withdrawal concerns a change of mind, while the legal guarantee concerns products that were damaged, defective, incorrectly supplied or not in conformity with the sales contract.
Nothing in this Policy excludes, shortens or restricts a mandatory legal guarantee or another non-waivable consumer right.
13. Shipping Damage
All orders are shipped using DHL Express with tracking.
Customers should inspect the external shipping box before opening it. Where visible damage is present, the customer should photograph the package before and during opening.
Where possible, the customer should note visible damage with the courier or refuse a severely damaged parcel where local procedures allow this. Refusing a damaged parcel is not mandatory and does not replace the requirement to contact us.
We will assess the evidence and may open a transportation claim with DHL.
Where the product was damaged during transportation to the customer, we will provide an appropriate remedy in accordance with applicable law. The customer will not be responsible for the necessary return shipping costs of a product confirmed as damaged, defective or incorrectly supplied.
14. Packages Marked as Delivered but Not Received
If DHL marks a package as delivered but the customer cannot locate it, the customer should promptly:
-
check all entrances and possible delivery locations;
-
check with household members;
-
check with neighbours, reception staff or building management;
-
review any delivery photograph or delivery notification;
-
contact the local DHL office; and
-
contact us at kardboardtik@grandlinecodex.com.
We may open an investigation with DHL and request delivery records, GPS information, proof of delivery, photographs, signatures or other available evidence.
A replacement or refund will not automatically be issued before the available delivery evidence and carrier investigation have been reviewed.
This does not restrict any mandatory consumer rights or our legal responsibility for delivery.
Customers must not submit a knowingly false non-delivery claim. Suspected fraudulent claims may be reported to the payment provider, carrier or appropriate authorities.
15. Incorrect or Incomplete Addresses
The customer is responsible for providing a complete and accurate shipping address when placing the order.
Customers must review their order confirmation and contact us immediately if an address needs to be corrected.
We cannot guarantee that an address can be changed after the shipping label has been created.
Where an order cannot be delivered because of an incorrect, incomplete or unsupported address supplied by the customer, the customer may be responsible, to the extent permitted by law, for:
-
the original shipping cost;
-
the return transportation cost;
-
address correction charges;
-
storage charges;
-
carrier handling charges;
-
non-recoverable taxes or customs charges; and
-
the cost of reshipping the order.
Any reshipment will require confirmation from us and may require payment of the additional shipping and carrier costs.
16. Taxes and Import Duties
Where applicable, taxes and import duties are collected during checkout.
Customers remain responsible for providing accurate information required for customs clearance, including their name, address, telephone number, email address and any legally required tax or identification number.
Customs authorities or DHL may contact the customer to request additional documents or information.
Taxes and import duties will be handled in accordance with applicable law, the destination country’s rules and the arrangements available through DHL and our checkout provider.
Where an order is returned, the refundability of taxes or duties may depend on:
-
whether the amounts have already been remitted;
-
whether the relevant customs authority permits reimbursement;
-
whether the amounts can be recovered from the authority or carrier; and
-
the mandatory laws applicable to the transaction.
Nothing in this section permits us to retain a tax or duty amount that must legally be refunded to the customer.
17. Refused, Unclaimed or Undeliverable International Packages
Customers must cooperate with DHL and customs authorities where reasonably required to complete delivery.
An order may be returned to us where the customer:
-
refuses delivery;
-
fails to provide requested customs information;
-
fails to respond to DHL;
-
does not collect the package;
-
provides an incorrect or incomplete address;
-
cannot be reached after delivery attempts; or
-
otherwise prevents delivery.
Refusing or failing to collect a package does not automatically constitute a valid exercise of the statutory right of withdrawal. Customers who wish to withdraw should send us a clear withdrawal notice within the applicable deadline.
Where a package is returned to us, we will assess it after receipt.
To the extent permitted by applicable law, we may deduct direct and documented costs caused by the failed delivery, including:
-
return transportation charges;
-
carrier handling or storage charges;
-
address correction charges;
-
non-recoverable customs charges;
-
non-recoverable taxes or duties; and
-
damage or reduction in value caused during the return process.
Any remaining refundable amount will be returned to the original payment method.
Where the customer validly exercises a mandatory statutory right of withdrawal, the statutory withdrawal rules take priority over any conflicting provision in this section.
18. Return Fraud and Product Substitution
Every Collector’s Edition has a unique serial number. We may record the serial number allocated to an order for fulfilment, authentication, customer service, fraud prevention and return verification purposes.
Returned products may be checked against the product and serial number originally supplied.
A refund may be refused where the customer returns:
-
a different book;
-
a different Collector’s Edition serial number;
-
a counterfeit or substituted product;
-
an incomplete product;
-
an empty package; or
-
a product not originally supplied as part of the relevant order.
We may retain evidence and report suspected return fraud, payment fraud, product substitution or theft to the relevant payment provider, carrier, insurer or competent authority.
This section does not affect legitimate returns or mandatory consumer rights.
19. Business Customers
Mandatory consumer rights, including the statutory 14-day withdrawal right, generally apply to individuals purchasing primarily outside their trade, business, craft or profession.
Customers purchasing on behalf of a business, company, professional activity, reseller or commercial organisation may not benefit from the same consumer withdrawal rights unless applicable law provides otherwise.
Any rights that cannot legally be excluded remain unaffected.
20. Mandatory Local Rights
We operate from Luxembourg and ship internationally.
Customers may benefit from mandatory consumer protection laws in their country of residence. Where a provision of this Policy conflicts with a mandatory non-waivable consumer right, the mandatory right will apply and the remaining provisions of this Policy will continue to apply to the fullest extent permitted by law.
